How Does A Pregnancy Test Work?
When a woman becomes pregnant, she produces a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). As the hormone builds, it moves into her blood and urine stream. If a urine test detects hCG, it is an indication of a possible pregnancy.
I’ve Taken A Home Test. Do I Have To Take Another One?
At-home pregnancy tests are reliable as long as you take them correctly. Did you follow these recommendations?
- Check to see if the date has expired
- Wait until at least the day of your missed period
- Take the test in the morning when your urine is most concentrated
- Wait the recommended amount of time for the result
- Repeat the test in 3 to 5 days to confirm the results
Since you are recommended to take more than one test, come to Greene Pregnancy Center for your second test. Our tests are free and confidential.
The Test Is Positive. Now What?
A positive pregnancy test only indicates the possibility of pregnancy. Your next step is to receive a free and confidential limited obstetrical ultrasound referral.
An ultrasound gives you the information you need. It confirms if your pregnancy is growing or if you have miscarried.
Ultrasound also determines the number of weeks you have been pregnant and the pregnancy’s location. This information is vital to your health and safety.
Schedule an appointment for free and confidential pregnancy testing. If your test is positive, we can refer you for a free ultrasound.
